Navara – Movsesian Match Will be Held in Prague in June, 2011

Sergey MovsesianDavid Navara, the best Czech player and Sergey Movsesian, the Armenian top player will play their match in Prague, Czech Republic from June 13th to June 19th, 2011.

Movsesian has also Slovak citizenship, which adds more spice to this match (Czech and Slovak republics were one state until 1993). So this match is going to be something like Central European derby match ;) But the official name of this match is ČEZ CHESS Trophy 2011.

Navara and Movsesian will not be the only top players in Prague at those days. Who else could visit Prague during the match? Carlsen? Topalov? Aronian? No. The right answer is… World champion Viswanathan Anand!

World champion Viswanathan Anand will be the guest of honour of the chess festival ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011. He will make the first ceremonial move of the match between grandmasters David Navara and Sergey Movsesian and will play a simul against thirty opponents. This simul of the current world champion will initiate the whole festival on Sunday 12th June in the afternoon.

Chess festival ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011 is held by the civic association Prague Chess Society.
